Our Curriculum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This curriculum is designed as a direct continuation of our preschool art curriculum<\/a>, and follows a similar structure. We provide a more than 10 hour YouTube playlist<\/a> that includes simple hands-on drawing tutorials, fun instructional videos about music theory, and engaging examples of music, performance art, and visual art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hands-On Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many of the videos we’ve included in the playlist<\/a> are designed to walk young children through the process of making various pieces of artwork. These typically rely on the YouTube channel Art for Kids Hub<\/a>. Whenever you encounter one of these videos in the playlist, you should provide your child with the necessary tools: specifically, paper and appropriate drawing implements (crayons, markers, or colored pencils will work fine). Play the video for your child, and let them follow along with the drawing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drawings for this grade level are slightly more sophisticated than those in our preschool playlist, but they are still quite simple. If you haven’t used our preschool curriculum<\/a>, and you find that your child struggles with the drawing assignments, it might be helpful to try starting off with our preschool level playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music Instruction and Inspiration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our playlist for this grade level places special emphasis on music. We’ve included some basic music theory to give children a very basic understanding of how music works, but mostly, we just give kids a chance to watch some of the world\u2019s best musicians doing what they love. In addition to giving students a taste of what music has to offer, this also gives children something to get excited about and aspire towards. The performances we have included are specifically selected with a young audience in mind, with plenty of motion, enthusiasm, and funny surprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
